Introduction
RKY AI Birthday Reminder ("we", "us", or "the App") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. The App is designed as a local-first utility to help you manage birthdays, schedule reminders, generate personalized AI wishes, and design greeting cards. No account registration is required and all data stays strictly on your device.
Data Collection & Handling
- No Account Required: You can use the App without signing up, logging in, or providing personal identifying information.
- Local Storage: All contact information, birth dates, custom notes, notification settings, and card designs are stored locally on your device. We do not operate cloud databases or external backup servers for your data.
- Contact Access (NSContactsUsageDescription): If you choose to import birthdays from your contacts, the App requests permission to read your contact names, birth dates, and profile pictures. This information is processed exclusively on your device to create local birthday entries and is never uploaded or shared.
- Photo Library Access: The App requests photo library access only when you choose to select a custom contact photo or save an exported birthday card image to your device.
- OpenAI Integration (BYOK): If you activate the optional AI feature by entering your own OpenAI API key (BYOK), the key is stored securely in local app storage. Your text prompts are sent directly from your device to OpenAI's API. We do not store, access, or proxy your API key or prompt content.
Device Permissions
The App may request the following system permissions based on features you use:
- Contacts Access (NSContactsUsageDescription): Required only when you choose to import contact names, birth dates, and photos into your birthday list.
- Notifications: Required to schedule local push alerts for upcoming birthdays and anniversaries.
- Photo Library Access (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription / NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription): Required to select contact profile photos or save generated greeting cards to your device photo library.
Third-Party Services & Integrations
The App contains no third-party ad networks, telemetry trackers, or background analytics SDKs.
The only optional third-party interaction occurs if you use your own OpenAI API key for AI wish generation, which communicates directly with OpenAI's servers (api.openai.com) under OpenAI's privacy policy.
Data Security & Ownership
- Record Deletion: You can edit or delete individual birthday entries at any time directly within the App.
- App Deletion: Uninstalling the App permanently removes all locally stored app data from your device.
